What coordinates, microscopic or macroscopic, are used in statistical systems?  How are the macroscopic variables are related.

In statistical mechanics entropy will be defined in terms of partition function'' and $V,T$, pressure will be introduced as  average quantities which can be computed. Then all other thermodynamic functions can be computed. Once the partition function is known.

  Macroscopic Variables

Statistical Mechanics
Microscopic Variable

1)   \(P,V, T \) \(V\), internal energy
2)   \(S,U\) (T\) and partition function
3)   \(F,G,H\) in terms of \(S,U,P,V,T\) Entropy in terms of \(Z\)   Pressure etc are average quantities
4)   Laws of Thermodynamics

The  two descriptions are related in the sense that macroscopic quantities are average over a large number of similar systems.
